Road block

Well it was bound to happen at some point. I’ve hit a road block. And a very big one. I had come to Norway to work for a newspaper called VG, which is one of the biggest in the country. It’s a progressive paper that is  really engaged with its community.  I have wanted to work for them since meeting one of their VPs many years ago and have always had it on my list of things to do.

Last week I got an email from them saying they now had too much on their plate given the recent bombing and shootings – part of their building was damaged as a result of the bombings and many of their journos have been working out of a hotel just to get the paper out – that they can’t host me. 🙁 Devastated! It was one of the things I was most looking forward to on this trip.

I can totally understand where they are coming from but am still monumentally disappointed.

So what should I do? Suggestions?

On a more positive note i’m staying with Stefani, my friend who I met in Eilat, Israel and her friends Mette, a native Norwegian and Less her husband from Philadelphia who have been so hospitable.

They are awesome and own a dog who is a splitting image of my dog at home, Bella. After four months away from home it’s so nice to see a familiar face even if it’s not the real deal. Check it out:

Have you written back and asked if you could also work remotely and help with any of the rebuilding of the office?
I know my question is stating the obvious but I think you should go in and see them face to face!

That’s a big disappointement, hope you will find something else to do. Boris will send you an email about taking care of your “baby” and when it will be eatable. Good luck from us!!
