Yad Vashem

I’ve been to Auschwitz before. A harrowing exercise but one every person should do if they have the opportunity. It acts as a permanent reminder of the evil men can do.
Likewise Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Museum. For me, it is not so much the sadness – which is acutely high of course – it’s the injustice of it all; That people stood by and did nothing. To me, that act is more abhorrent.

“They came for the Communists, and I did not object for I was not a Communist.
They came for the Socialists, and I did not object for I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not object for I was not a Jew.
When they came for me, there was no one left to object…”
