The Bill

Ok I’m back on the road to Mongolia.

I arrived at the Mongolian consulate this morning to find it was literally a block away from where I’ve been staying with Leda and Pal. Heartbreaking. I walked past it every day for two weeks and didn’t realise. Not that you could tell by looking at it. Just looks like a block of flats.

Anyway the guy there was expecting me because the Consular dude had called him from Denmark and he already had the visa sticker out to put in my passport. He was seriously so nice and had me out the door with my visa in five minutes. I wish I had of done this two weeks ago!

He also gave me the business card of the Norwegian Consular for Mongolia who said if I have any trouble I can call him on his mobile and he will sort it. He says he has the ability to override anything they might say when I land. Fingers crossed I won’t need to call him but it’s very nice of him just the same!

I have also just booked my flight back which cost me double the initial far so I’m hoping this country is worth it! In my initially calculations Mongolia was actually going to be one of my cheaper months and where I was going to save some money but alas it wasn’t meant to me. Instead here’s my tally to date.

$1000 AUD – first flight

$27 AUD one way bus ticket to Vibeke’s house

$10 AUD bus ticket into Oslo to get visa

$200 AUD – double fee for visa

$2100 AUD – second flight to Mongolia.

Total: $3337

That’s an expensive conversation.

Still I saw this sign on the way to the consulate this morning and thought to myself, you really can’t judge a country by just one person. So… bring on Mongolia 🙂

There are a lot of good people around
