New wheels and neglect

My friend Stella once described the benefits of a pedicure: “It’s like sitting on a wooden chair with a cushion instead of a bare plank of wood.”

When I got my new wheels today my feet fell instantly in love. It was the first bit of relief they’ve had in months since training for the marathon began. They are seriously that blistered and battered I’m now too embarrassed to go and get a pedicure and cringe any time my physio goes anywhere near my feet!

But thanks to these bad boys, I can now feel a little less guilty about the neglect I have subjected my feet to in the last few months. When I slipped on my new Adidas Supernova Sequence 3s it was like brand new carpet under my toes. Isn’t that just the best feeling?!

I’ve been looking around for ages for the right pair of trainers, going from shop to shop and expert to expert. I’ve been torn about whether to get a really lightweight shoe or one with a bit more support. I certainly didn’t want a heavier shoe for the thousands of steps I’m going to have to climb as part of the Great Wall of China marathon, but it wasn’t so much the ascents as the descents that concern me.

I ultimately need a shoe with great cushioning and support – something I’m hoping my new trainers will give me in abundance. Fingers crossed!

Apparently they have Formotion technology, which adapts to the ground as you run for greater balance and stability and the insides have a nonslip lining to keep your ankle locked in place to stop blisters – yippee!!

Happy running!
